Look youthful, fresh, and radiant without fillers!
“This is the beginning of a whole new category of injectables. Rather than filling, they’re subtracting from an area that is problematic for a lot of people. There have been attempts to dissolve fat before, but this is the first time it’s worked—and that’s pretty exciting.”
—Amy B. Lewis, a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Yale School of Medicine
Facial aging actually begins in your 20s, when skin firmness begins to decrease as a result of both internal (genetics and natural aging) and external (sun exposure, smoking, stress, etc.) factors. One of the primary reasons for visible facial aging is loss of collagen, a fibrous protein in the deep dermis that gives structure to skin and supports the functions of elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA). Elastin is an elastic protein that maintains skin shape while HA cushions and lubricates to keep the skin hydrated. More collagen enables the presence of more elastin and HA.
YOUR BODY SLOWS COLLAGEN PRODUCTION THROUGHOUT YOUR ADULT LIFE. BY AGE 40, MOST PEOPLE HAVE UP TO 20% COLLAGEN LOSS. By 50, you face up to 30% collagen loss.

FAQ
How does Sculptra® work?
Sculptra® Aesthetic is made with biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid. This compound is gradually and naturally absorbed by your body and helps to rebuild lost collagen through a series of treatments administered by Glow’s physicians.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is injected within the deep dermis where strands of collagen support your skin’s structure. Over time, it helps your body reproduce lost collagen. On average, three injection appointments are needed over a period of a few months. The number of injection appointments and the number of injections per appointment vary from person to person, depending on how much collagen has been lost.
What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® Aesthetic is a a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator. It works within the deep dermis (rather than topically) to help revitalize your body’s collagen production and restore your skin’s inner structure and volume.
As the Sculptra® Aesthetic PLLA microparticles are absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production. The rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually helping to restore facial volume in areas such as shallow to deep nasolabial folds and wrinkles. It is intended for use in people with healthy immune systems as one-time treatment regimen of up to 4 injection sessions scheduled about 3 weeks apart.
How is Sculptra® different from other types of treatment?
Not all treatments or injectables are created the same. Some target different areas of the face, and, more importantly, produce different effects.
Traditional collagen creams purport to deliver collagen that is absorbed by the skin. However, collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the dermis. So, in actuality, most of these treatments include vitamins and hold moisture, making them suitable moisturizers that can briefly improve skin’s appearance.
Collagen dietary supplements are meant to facilitate the production of collagen within the body. However, collagen is a protein that, when ingested, is broken down by the digestive system. Results for these types of treatments are inconclusive.
Toxins work by temporarily weakening muscles, typically in the forehead, to minimize frown lines. Results appear within a couple days and can last up to a couple months.
Fillers are liquid or gel substances, like hyaluronic acid or bovine or porcine collagen, that diminish lines by pushing up the dermis space beneath wrinkles and creases. Results appear immediately and can last up to several months.
Collagen stimulators (like Sculptra®) are used to diminish facial wrinkles by helping to restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin. Results appear gradually over the treatment regime (typically three injections over the course of three to four months) and can last up to two years.
How long does Sculptra® last?
Because Sculptra® Aesthetic helps the body replace its own collegen, results can last more than two years.*
*Clinical trials have lasted up to 25 months.
Am I right for Sculptra® treatments?
If you want to appear more youthful-looking — without appearing like you’ve had work done — then chances are Sculptra® Aesthetic may be a good choice for you.
Sculptra® Aesthetic works subtly and gradually over time for a more youthful-looking appearance. Unlike hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, Sculptra® Aesthetic helps stimulate your skin’s own natural collagen production to help restore its inner structure and increase facial volume lost to aging.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is intended for use in people with healthy immune systems as a one-time treatment regimen of up to four injection sessions that are scheduled about three weeks apart.
You should NOTget Sculptra® Aesthetic if you:
- Are allergic to any ingredient of Sculptra® Aesthetic : “poly-L-lactic acid” (PLLA), carboxymethylcellulose (USP) or non-pyrogenic mannitol (USP).
- Previously had or have risks factors for hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation.
Safety Info
Sculptra® Aesthetic (injectable poly-L-lactic acid) is indicated for use in people with healthy immune systems as a single regimen for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles in which deep dermal grid pattern (cross-hatch) injection technique is appropriate.
Sculptra Aesthetic should not be used by people that are allergic to any ingredient of the product or have a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. Safety has not been established in patients who are pregnant, lactating, breastfeeding, or under 18 years of age.
Sculptra Aesthetic has unique injection requirements and should only be used by a trained physician. Contour deficiencies should not be overcorrected because they are expected to gradually improve after treatment.
Sculptra Aesthetic should not be injected into the blood vessels as it may cause vascular occlusion, infarction or embolic phenomena. Use at the site of skin sores, cysts, pimples, rashes, hives or infection should be postponed until healing is complete. Sculptra Aestheticshould not be injected into the red area (vermillion) of the lip or in the peri-orbital area.
The most common side effects after initial treatment include injection site swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching and lumps. Other side effects may include small lumps under the skin that are sometimes noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, some with delayed onset with or without inflammation or skin discoloration, have also been reported.
