FAQ
Does BBL™ help clear up active acne?
BBL™ works well to help clear mild to moderate active acne. The treatment is simple, quick, pain-free, and requires no down-time. BBL™ is especially effective in women who experience localized acne on their chins, adult hormonal acne for men and women, and teenage acne. Along with a home skincare program designed for acne-prone skin, clients can experience significant long-term clearance. Check our BBL™ Acne Treatment page for details.
How does BBL™ Work?
BBL™ uses low-frequency pulsed photo-thermal energy to safely and gently heat deep layers of skin. Damaged cells absorb this energy and are stimulated to generate new collagen and elastin synthesis,– important building blocks of healthier, tighter, and firmer looking skin. BBL’s™ broad range of energy wavelengths allow for skin to be more evenly treated, improving overall results. A thermo-electric monitoring system adjusts the temperature of the procedure, eliminating the need for pain medication and ensuring comfort.
During treatment, broadband light energy gently heats the upper layers of skin. Treated areas absorb the heat, stimulating new collagen production and giving the skin a firmer, smoother appearance. Simultaneously, photo-thermal energy dramatically reduces redness, age spots, freckles and many other types of unwanted pigmentation.
What areas of the body can be treated?
Any area of the body can be treated including face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.
What should I expect during a BBL™ treatment?
BBL™ is very gentle and requires minimal downtime. No anesthesia is needed, however, we do apply a thin coat of cool gel to help soothe the skin. You’ll be given protective eye wear and asked to lay back and relax. You’ll feel the soft pressure of the BBL hand piece as it is guided over treatment areas. You may feel occasional heat or a slight sting as the light pulses; these sensations are well tolerated by most people.
After the procedure your skin may seem flushed and spots may darken somewhat. This resolves after 10 to 14 days, easily covered with makeup until then. In about two weeks you’ll notice your skin looking brighter and more youthful. Improvements continue to accrue over additional treatments. It’s important to wear sunscreen for a couple of months post treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
A series of 4-6 treatments is recommended. The result is a smoother, brighter complexion with smaller pores, fewer lines and a more even skin tone.
